February 3rd , 2003 WOODSTOCK, NY - LECTURE-DEMONSTRATION: COLLAGE: MEDIUM AND METAPHOR / The Woodstock Artists Association: At the invitation of F.A.M.E (The First Monday Arts Evening), I will present an interactive lecture-demonstration during which we will discuss the implications of collage as a medium as well as new developments and techniques. There will also be time for questions and answers. The program will be held at the Woodstock Artists Association, 28 Tinker Street, at 7 PM . Admission: $6. Refreshments. April 24th, 2003 MIDDLETOWN, NY - INTERACTIVE LECTURE-DEMONSTRATION: THE ARTIST AS AN EXPLORER / Orange County Community College / Morrison Hall Mansion: At the invitation of the Orange County Community College Lyceum Lecture Series, I will present an interactive lecture-demonstration titled "The Artist as an Explorer." During this program we will examine the role of the artist as an individual and in relationship to society. I will also demonstrate some of the technical innovations which are discussed in my book Collage: A New Approach and, with the help of the audience, explore the implications of collage as a medium. May 3rd & 4th, 2003 WEST HARTFORD, CT - WORKSHOP: COLLAGE TECHNIQUES & CREATIVE EXPLORATION / The West Hartford Art League:
Participants in this workshop will explore the creative process and learn new collage techniques that eliminate liquid adhesives, drying time, and wrinkling from the collage-assembly process. We will also investigate a wide variety of subjects including composition, creation of a personal visual vocabulary, sources of creativity, art as process and product, getting past artistic blocks, and more. Additional technical subjects covered include the "paperless" transfer of printed and photocopied images, tissue overlays, and the presentation and framing of finished works, including those with 3-D elements. COLLAGE 102 / in the Artist's Studio: This workshop is an "advanced" workshop for folks who are already familiar with the basics of prepared paper collage and acrylic image transfer. While we
will, as usual, determine our goals at the beginning of the workshop, the focus will be on advanced techniques. Some subjects which we will investigate include (but are not limited to) Changing the Format, Exploring Various Substrates, Balancing Areas of Interest, Creating Series, Working Large, Creating "Custom-Made" Computer-Generated Collage Elements, Marketing, Combining Collage with Other Media, Working from Nature, Networking for Artistic Growth, & Sharing the Work We've Done. September 6th & 7th, 2003 PORTLAND, OR - - WORKSHOP: COLLAGE TECHNIQUES & CREATIVE EXPLORATION / Art Media: Art Media owner Gail Vines has invited me back to Portland again. In addition to Collage without Liquid Adhesives, "paperless" image transfer, and other collage techniques, we will explore Composition, Creation of a Personal Visual Vocabulary, the Presentation and Framing of Finished Works, and more. 9:30am - 5:30pm both days.   JONATHAN TALBOT: A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

Works by Jonathan Talbot have been exhibited at The National Academy and The Museum of Modern Art in New York, have represented the U.S. overseas in exhibitions sponsored by the State Department and the Smithsonian Institution, and are included in museum collections in the U.S. and Europe. Talbot was awarded a career achievement medal at the Florence Biennial in Florence, Italy in 2001. He maintains his studio in Warwick, NY where he lives with his wife Marsha. They are the parents of two children: a daughter, Loren, and a son, Garret.
